Note: Struck during Heraclius’ critical campaigns against the Persians, this Cypriot issue reflects the island’s role as a secure Byzantine base far from the eastern front. The inclusion of both Martina and the young Heraclius Constantine emphasizes dynastic unity at a time when Constantinople itself was under siege (626). Cyprus’ uncertain mint production in this period shows how provincial centers were mobilized to support the war effort and provide small change for local circulation.
