Note: Arcadius was a Roman emperor who ruled the Eastern Roman Empire from AD 383 to 408. He was the eldest son of Theodosius I and became Augustus at a young age. Arcadius’ reign was marked by significant administrative and military challenges, as well as by the increasing influence of court officials and generals. The obverse, with its depiction of the emperor, emphasizes Arcadius’ authority and divine favor. The reverse, featuring the emperor with a standard and globe, conveys themes of military courage and global dominance. This coin not only played a practical role in the economy but also served as a powerful tool of imperial propaganda, aimed at legitimizing Arcadius’ rule and promoting the stability and strength of the Eastern Roman Empire.
