Note: Cilician Armenia, also known as Lesser Armenia, was a medieval Armenian state located in the region of Cilicia in modern-day Turkey. Hetoum I ruled as king from 1226 to 1270 AD.  Zabel was Hetoum’s wife and co-ruler, and their joint appearance on the coin signifies their shared authority. The lion symbolizes strength and sovereignty, while the cross represents Christianity, the state religion of Armenia. This coin reflects the political and religious significance of the Armenian kingdom during Hetoum I’s reign, as well as the cooperation between Hetoum and Zabel in governing the kingdom.
