Note: This tram reflects the kingdom’s efforts to consolidate royal authority and facilitate trade in a region bridging East and West. Levon I, also crowned as King of Cilician Armenia by the Pope, strengthened ties with both European Crusaders and neighboring states while promoting economic stability and urban development. The tram, a small silver denomination, was widely used in local commerce and trade, illustrating the kingdom’s integration into Mediterranean and Near Eastern monetary networks and the assertion of Armenian royal sovereignty during a period of political consolidation and cultural flourishing.
