Note: Claudius II Gothicus was a Roman emperor who reigned during the tumultuous period known as the Crisis of the Third Century. His rule included the provinces of the Roman Empire, primarily focused on the defense of the Danube and the Rhine frontiers. Claudius II ruled from AD 268 to 270, a time marked by external threats, particularly from the Gothic invasions. The obverse features a radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Claudius II Gothicus facing right. The radiate crown signifies his divine favor and status as a military leader, while the drapery and cuirass emphasize his role as a defender of the empire. The reverse shows Fortuna standing facing, head to left, holding a rudder and cornucopiae. The rudder symbolizes her control over fate, while the cornucopiae represents abundance and prosperity.
