Note: Constans was a Roman emperor who reigned from AD 337 to 350, succeeding his father, Constantine the Great, and ruling over the western part of the Roman Empire. His rule included regions such as Italy, Africa, and the Balkans. Constans was the youngest son of Constantine and was known for his strong Christian beliefs and efforts to defend the empire’s borders, particularly against barbarian incursions. The obverse features a pearl-diademed head of Constans facing right. The diadem, a symbol of royalty and divine right, underscores his status as emperor. The youthful and composed expression on his portrait reflects the stability and authority he sought to project during his reign. The reverse shows the inscription within a laurel wreath, a symbol of victory and triumph. The laurel wreath not only celebrates Constans’ past achievements but also conveys the hope for future victories and stability under his rule.
