Note: Constantius II was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 337 to 361. He was one of the sons of Constantine the Great and played a significant role in the consolidation of the empire during a period of religious and political transformation. His reign is noted for military campaigns against internal usurpers and external threats, particularly from the Persians and Germanic tribes. The Ɔ Follis was a common bronze coin used during the late Roman Empire, often minted in large quantities and used for everyday transactions. By the time of Constantius II, the coinage system had undergone significant changes, including the introduction of various denominations and reforms in metal content. This coin was struck during the period of AD 348-351, a time when Constantius II was actively involved in defending the empire’s borders and suppressing internal revolts. The theme of “FEL TEMP REPARATIO” reflects the emperor’s efforts to restore stability and prosperity after a period of turmoil and conflict.Ā  The obverse, featuring his diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust holding a globe, highlights his authority and divine sanction. The reverse, with the emperor in military dress and captives, conveys themes of victory and restoration. This coin not only facilitated economic transactions but also served as a powerful tool of imperial propaganda, reinforcing Constantius II’s image as a capable and divinely favored ruler committed to restoring stability and prosperity to the Roman Empire.
