Note: Diocletian was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 284 to 305. He is best known for establishing the Tetrarchy, a system of rule by four emperors, which aimed to bring stability to the Roman Empire during a period of significant military and political challenges. His reforms strengthened the imperial administration and military, leaving a lasting legacy on the Roman state.Ā  The obverse features a radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right. The radiate crown symbolizes his association with the sun god Sol, and his divine right to rule, while the drapery and cuirass highlight his authority and military prowess. The reverse shows Diocletian standing right, holding a baton, receiving Victory on a globe from Jupiter, who stands left, holding a long scepter. The depiction of Jupiter, the king of the gods, handing Victory to Diocletian symbolizes divine approval and the emperor’s role in maintaining harmony and success within the empire.
