Note: This nummus was issued under Heraclius (610–641 AD) alongside his wife Martina and son Heraclius Constantine. By this time, the empire faced the critical Sassanian siege of Constantinople and simultaneous Avar and Slavic incursions in the Balkans, making Cyprus an important strategic and economic outpost. The coin reflects both the assertion of dynastic legitimacy, featuring the imperial family, and the continued circulation of bronze currency in provincial regions during one of the most perilous periods of Heraclius’ reign.
