Note:Ā  This Dirham belongs to the reign of Abbasid Caliph Al-Amin and was minted in Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad) in the year 193 AH. Al-Amin was the son of the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid and ascended to the throne after his father’s death. His reign was marked by internal strife and conflicts with his brother, Al-Ma’mun, leading to the Abbasid Civil War. Despite his efforts to consolidate power, Al-Amin’s reign ended tragically with his defeat and subsequent execution by his brother’s forces. The coin serves as a tangible artifact of this tumultuous period in Abbasid history, reflecting the political and economic conditions of the time.
