Note: Mehmed II was one of the most significant rulers of the Ottoman Empire, reigning from 1444 to 1446 and then again from 1451 to 1481. He is renowned for his conquest of Constantinople in 1453, which marked the end of the Byzantine Empire and the beginning of Ottoman dominance in the region. The Novar Mint, also known as Novo Brdo, was located in present-day Kosovo and was one of the principal mints of the Ottoman Empire during Mehmed II’s reign. Coins minted there were highly esteemed for their quality and were circulated widely throughout the empire’s territories.
