His reign was marked by expansion and prosperity, as well as notable architectural projects, including the construction of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. The Wasit Mint, located in present-day Iraq, was one of the prominent mints of the Umayyad Caliphate. Coins minted there were widely circulated throughout the caliphate’s territories.
