Note: Qutb al-Din Il-Ghazi II was a ruler of the Artuqid dynasty, which ruled parts of Anatolia and al-Jazira (Mesopotamia) after the decline of the Seljuk Empire. The coin was probably minted in Mardin, a city located in present-day Turkey, which was one of the principal centers of the Artuqid dynasty. The depiction of Byzantine-style busts on the coin reflects the cultural and artistic influence of the neighboring Byzantine Empire on the Artuqid dynasty, which often engaged in diplomatic and military interactions with Byzantine territories.
