Note: The coin belongs to the period of Lysimachos, one of the Diadochi, the successors of Alexander the Great, who ruled Thrace from 305 to 281 BC. It was struck in Lysimacheia, one of his foundation cities. On the obverse is the head of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare, facing right and wearing a crested Attic helmet, a common depiction on coins of this era.
