Note: Saladin was a renowned Islamic leader and military commander during the 12th century. He is often referred to as Saladin in Western sources and Nasir al-Din Yusuf I in Arabic sources. Saladin is best known for his role in the reconquest of Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1187, as well as for his military campaigns and diplomatic skills in uniting various Muslim territories against the Crusader states.
