Note:  The Elymais Kingdom was an ancient region located in present-day southwestern Iran. Ruled by local dynasties, it flourished during the Hellenistic and Parthian periods. Elymais issued its own coinage, often featuring local rulers and deities. Known for its rich cultural heritage, Elymais played a significant role in the history of ancient Persia. Orodes II, a ruler of Elymais in the 2nd century AD, expanded his kingdom’s influence in southwestern Iran. His coinage often features a bearded bust wearing a tiara, with distinctive symbols such as the anchor and crescent. Orodes II likely faced challenges from neighboring powers during his reign, evidenced by the military and defensive motifs on his coins. His rule contributed to the rich numismatic and historical legacy of the Elymais Kingdom.
