Note: icinius II was a Roman Caesar who served from AD 317 to 324, during the reign of his father, Licinius I. His role primarily involved administrative and military duties in the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire. Licinius II’s tenure as Caesar was part of his father’s strategy to secure dynastic succession and reinforce his rule amidst the political and military challenges posed by Constantine the Great. The obverse, featuring Licinius II in military regalia, underscores his role as a legitimate and capable Caesar. The reverse, depicting Jupiter with symbols of victory and divine favor, reinforces the themes of divine protection and imperial strength. This coin not only facilitated economic transactions but also served as a powerful tool of imperial propaganda, aimed at legitimizing Licinius II’s position and garnering support during a tumultuous period in Roman history.
