Note: Maurice Tiberius was a Byzantine Emperor who reigned from 582 to 602 AD. He stabilized the empire’s eastern borders through treaties with Persia and successfully campaigned against the Avars and Slavs in the Balkans. Maurice implemented administrative reforms and military innovations, but his reign ended tragically with his assassination and the rise of the usurper Phocas. Despite his achievements, Maurice’s death marked the beginning of a tumultuous period for the Byzantine Empire.
