Note: Struck under Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos, known as Auletes (“the Flute Player”), during his second reign (55–51 BC), this coin reflects the fragile yet wealthy late Ptolemaic kingdom. Issued in the years just before the rule of Cleopatra VII, it embodies both the dynasty’s reliance on Hellenistic traditions and Egypt’s critical role in Mediterranean politics on the eve of Roman domination.
