Note: Salonina was the wife of Roman Emperor Gallienus and held the title of Augusta from AD 254 to 268. As Augusta, she played a significant role in the imperial propaganda of her husband’s reign, often being depicted on coins and public monuments. Her tenure coincided with a period of considerable turmoil known as the Crisis of the Third Century, characterized by internal strife, economic instability, and external threats.Ā  The obverse, depicting Salonina with a diadem and crescent, highlights her elevated status and divine favor. The reverse, featuring Juno with a patera and scepter alongside a peacock, emphasizes religious piety and authority. This coin not only served as a medium of economic exchange but also played a crucial role in reinforcing the legitimacy and stability of the imperial family during a period of significant crisis in the Roman Empire.
