Note: Trajan was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 98 to 117. Known for his military conquests and extensive building projects, Trajan expanded the Roman Empire to its greatest territorial extent. His reign was marked by successful campaigns in Dacia (modern-day Romania) and the Middle East, and he was celebrated as one of the “Five Good Emperors” for his effective governance and public welfare initiatives.Ā Ā  The obverse, featuring Trajan’s laureate head, emphasizes his authority and divine favor. The reverse, depicting the sacred stone of Zeus Kasios within a shrine, underscores the local religious customs and the veneration of Zeus Kasios in addition of the city’s integration into the Roman Empire. This coin not only facilitated economic transactions but also served as a medium for promoting the emperor’s presence and the local identity within the empire.
