Note: Theodosius I, also known as Theodosius the Great, was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 379 to 395. He was the last emperor to rule over both the eastern and western halves of the Roman Empire. His reign is notable for his efforts to solidify Christianity as the state religion and for dealing with various military and political challenges, including conflicts with the Goths and internal usurpers.  The obverse, featuring his rosette-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust, highlights his authority and divine sanction. The reverse, depicting the emperor holding a labarum and globe, with his foot on a captive, conveys themes of victory, control, and divine favor. This coin not only facilitated economic transactions but also served as a powerful tool of imperial propaganda, reinforcing Theodosius I’s image as a strong and divinely supported ruler during a time of significant military and political challenges.
