Note: Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik ruled as caliph during a pivotal period in Islamic history. His short reign succeeded that of his brother, Walid I. Sulayman is noted for his efforts to maintain stability within the vast Umayyad Caliphate, which stretched from the Iberian Peninsula to the borders of China. The city of Marw, was a significant urban center during the Umayyad period. Located in present-day Turkmenistan, Marw was strategically situated along the Silk Road, facilitating trade and cultural exchange between the Islamic world, Persia, and Central Asia.
