Note: Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik ruled as caliph during a pivotal period in Islamic history. His short reign succeeded that of his brother, Walid I. The city of Marw, was a significant urban center during the Umayyad period. Located in present-day Turkmenistan, Marw was strategically situated along the Silk Road, facilitating trade and cultural exchange between the Islamic world, Persia, and Central Asia.
