Description

Greek, Caria, Uncertain, AR Drachm (silver, 3.8g, 20mm), Circa 197 BC.
Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin
Rev: Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; bee-in-circle in left field
Ref: Lorber, Pseudo-Chios, Group 2, 7–8 (A2/P6) Rarity/Choice: Rare, aVF (flan crack otherwise nicely toned patina)
Note:  This drachm features the heroic head of Herakles wearing the lion skin on the obverse. The reverse shows Zeus Aëtophoros seated left, a classic Hellenistic symbol of divine authority. A small bee-in-circle in the left field adds a local touch, linking regional identity with the enduring iconography of Alexander’s empire.
