Note: Constans, Roman Emperor from AD 337 to 350, was the youngest son of Constantine the Great. He ruled over the western provinces of the Roman Empire after the division of power among Constantine’s sons. The obverse features a pearl-diademed bust of Constans facing right. The diadem and the emperor’s profile highlight his imperial dignity and authority.  The reverse shows the inscription “VOT XV MVLT XX” in four lines within a wreath, a symbol of victory and honor. The wreath surrounds the vows, emphasizing their importance and the emperor’s commitment to his rule. “VOT XV MVLT XX” translates to “Vows (prayers) for 15 years, and more (vows) for 20 years.” This inscription within a wreath signifies the emperor’s wishes for continued prosperity and stability, celebrating his reign and looking forward to future milestones. The coin serves as a powerful reminder of Constans’s reign and the Roman practice of celebrating and legitimizing imperial power through numismatic art.
