Note: Constantine II, as Caesar, was the eldest son of Constantine the Great. He served as Caesar from AD 316 to 337 and as Augustus from AD 337 until his death in AD 340. During his time as Caesar, he was responsible for the western provinces of the Roman Empire. The period AD 330-335 was a time of consolidation for the Roman Empire under the rule of Constantine the Great and his sons. The obverse features a laureate and cuirassed bust of Constantine II facing right. The laurel wreath signifies victory and honor, while the cuirass emphasizes his role as a military leader. The reverse depicts two soldiers standing facing each other, heads turned toward one another. Each soldier is holding a spear and resting a hand on a grounded shield. Between them are two standards, symbolizing the unity and discipline of the Roman legions.
