Note: Constantine II was a Roman emperor who ruled as Caesar from AD 316 to 337. He was one of the sons of Constantine the Great and became co-emperor as part of the Tetrarchic system, which aimed to stabilize and divide the vast Roman Empire among multiple rulers. His rule as Caesar focused on the western provinces of the empire. The obverse features a laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Constantine II facing left. The laureate crown indicates his imperial status and divine favor, while the drapery and cuirass highlight his role as both a leader and a military commander. “CAESARVM NOSTRORVM” translates to “Of Our Caesars,” referring to Constantine II and his fellow rulers, signifying the unity and collective leadership of the Tetrarchy.  The reverse shows “VOT V” within a laurel wreath. The inscription “VOT V” represents a vow for the fifth year, a common motif reflecting the emperor’s dedication to the well-being and stability of the empire. The laurel wreath symbolizes victory, honor, and achievement. “TSBVI” in the exergue indicates the mint mark of Thessalonica, where the coin was produced. This coin not only facilitated economic transactions but also served as an important medium for promoting the legitimacy and unity of the Tetrarchic system.
