Note: Diocletian was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 284 to 305. His reign included extensive reforms and the establishment of the Tetrarchy, a system designed to stabilize the empire. His rule, spanning the late 3rd to early 4th centuries, was marked by efforts to consolidate power and manage internal and external challenges. The obverse features a radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right. The radiate crown and cuirass signify his role as a divine and military leader, reflecting his status and strength. The reverse shows Diocletian standing right in military dress, receiving Victory on a globe from Jupiter, who is facing left and leaning on a scepter. The presence of Victory and Jupiter underscores the divine endorsement and military success attributed to Diocletian’s reign.
