Note: Constantine I the Great, also known as Flavius Valerius Constantinus, was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 306 to 337. Following his death, he was deified, which was a common practice for respected emperors in the Roman Empire. This coin was issued posthumously to honor him as Divus (the deified). After Constantine I’s death in AD 337, his sons ruled the Roman Empire and issued coins to honor their father’s memory and promote his deified status. The deification of Constantine I reinforced the legitimacy of his successors and celebrated his significant contributions, including the establishment of Constantinople and his endorsement of Christianity.  The obverse features a veiled head of Constantine I facing right. The veil signifies his deified status, a common representation for emperors who were posthumously deified.  The reverse depicts Constantine standing facing, head to right. This depiction emphasizes his stature and legacy.
