Note: Gallienus, also known as Publius Licinius Egnatius Gallienus, ruled as Roman emperor from AD 253 to 260. His reign was amidst the Crisis of the Third Century, marked by severe military, economic, and political challenges across the Roman Empire. The obverse features a laureate bust of Gallienus facing right, draped in a paludamentum (military cloak) and wearing a cuirass (body armor). The laurel wreath symbolizes victory and honor, typical of Roman imperial portraiture. The reverse depicts an eagle standing facing, with spread wings and head turned left. The eagle holds the forepart of a bull in its talons. This imagery symbolizes Roman authority and power, with the eagle representing strength and the bull possibly signifying fertility or agricultural prosperity in the region of Troas.
