Note: Gallienus was a Roman emperor who ruled during a period known as the Crisis of the Third Century, a time marked by political instability, military threats, and economic challenges. His reign lasted from 253 to 268 AD, during which he managed to maintain control over the western provinces despite numerous rebellions and external pressures.Ā  The obverse features a radiate bust of Gallienus facing right, symbolizing his divine favor and role as the military leader. The radiate crown signifies his association with the sun god Sol and his elevated status as emperor.Ā  The reverse shows a panther walking left, a sacred animal to Liber Pater, symbolizing the emperor’s association with the god and the attributes of freedom and protection that he sought to embody.
