Note: Ionia, an ancient region on the western coast of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), was renowned for its vibrant culture and significant city-states, including Miletos. Apollo, the Greek god of music, prophecy, and healing, was highly revered in Miletos and throughout Ionia. His laureate head symbolizes his divine attributes and connection to wisdom and the arts.  The lion, a symbol of strength and power, was often associated with Apollo and other gods in Greek mythology. Mainly the star above the lion represents celestial symbolism. The monogram and magistrate’s name provide information about the coin’s issuer and the administrative organization of Miletos. This coin reflects the artistic and numismatic excellence of Miletos, as well as its economic and political importance.
