Note: Bahri Mamluks: The Bahri Sultanate was the first of two Mamluk dynasties that ruled Egypt. It was founded by Mamluks of Kipchak Turkic origin (hence “Bahri,” meaning “riverine” or “of the Nile”) who seized control of Egypt in 1250 AD after overthrowing the Ayyubid Sultanate. The Bahri Mamluk period is characterized by internal instability, external conflicts, and significant developments in military organization and architecture. The Bahri Sultanate lasted until 1382 AD.
