Note: Judea was a Roman province in the eastern Mediterranean. Procurators were Roman governors appointed to administrate Judea on behalf of the emperor. They were responsible for maintaining order, collecting taxes, and overseeing the region’s affairs. Porcius Festus was a Roman procurator who succeeded Antonius Felix in 59 CE. His rule coincided with a tumultuous period in Judea, marked by conflicts between the Roman authorities and the Jewish population.Ā  The prutah was a small bronze coin, a fractional currency used in Judea during Roman rule. The palm branch on coins minted in Judea under Roman rule serves multiple purposes: it represents victory and triumph, reflects Messianic hopes, carries cultural significance, and also symbolizes Roman authority.
