Note: Tiberius was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 14 to 37, succeeding Augustus as the second emperor of Rome. His reign was marked by a relatively stable administration, but also by increasing autocracy and political purges. Tiberius spent his later years in seclusion on the island of Capri, leaving much of the administration to his Praetorian Prefects. The obverse, featuring Tiberius’s bare head, underscores his imperial authority. The reverse, depicting priests ploughing with oxen, highlights the importance of agricultural prosperity and the symbolic acts of city foundation. This coin not only facilitated economic transactions but also served as a medium to propagate the emperor’s image and the values of Roman civilization.
