Note: Mysia, Pitane was an ancient Greek city located in the region of Mysia, situated on the western coast of Anatolia, in present-day Turkey. Zeus Ammon, often depicted with ram’s horns, was a syncretic deity combining elements of the Greek god Zeus and the Egyptian god Amun. His depiction on Pitanean coins suggests the city’s reverence for this powerful god and its cultural connections with both Greek and Egyptian traditions.  Zeus Ammon’s association with divine kingship, protection, and fertility likely held symbolic significance for the people of Pitane. The pentagram likely held symbolic significance, representing various concepts such as cosmic harmony, balance, and protection. Despite the distance, trade networks linked Anatolia with Egypt and other regions. The exchange of goods, ideas, and cultural practices occurred through maritime trade routes across the Mediterranean Sea. Pitane, as a coastal city, would have participated in this trade, facilitating contact with Egypt and allowing for the transmission of cultural and religious elements.
