Note: Diadumenian, born Marcus Opellius Diadumenianus, was the son of the Roman Emperor Macrinus. He was made Caesar (junior emperor) by his father in AD 217 and briefly served as Augustus (co-emperor) in AD 218. His reign was short-lived, as he was captured and executed after Macrinus was overthrown by the forces of Elagabalus. Diadumenian’s brief period in power was marked by political instability and his youth, as he was only around ten years old at the time of his elevation. The obverse features a bare-headed and cuirassed bust of Diadumenian facing right. The cuirass, a symbol of military might, portrays him as a young but prepared leader, despite his youth and inexperience. The laurel wreath surrounding the inscriptions is a symbol of victory and honor, commonly associated with Roman authority and the military achievements of the emperor.
