Note: Diadumenian, born Marcus Opellius Diadumenianus, was the son of the Roman Emperor Macrinus. He was made Caesar (junior emperor) by his father in AD 217 and briefly served as Augustus (co-emperor) in AD 218. His reign was short-lived, as he was captured and executed after Macrinus was overthrown by the forces of Elagabalus. Diadumenianā€™s brief period in power was marked by political instability and his youth, as he was only around ten years old at the time of his elevation. The obverse features a bare-headed and cuirassed bust of Diadumenian facing right. The cuirass, a symbol of military might, portrays him as a young but prepared leader, despite his youth and inexperience. The laurel wreath surrounding the inscriptions is a symbol of victory and honor, commonly associated with Roman authority and the military achievements of the emperor.
