Note: Aeolis was an ancient region on the western coast of Anatolia (modern-day Turkey), known for its numerous Greek city-states. Kyme (or Cumae) was one of the most prominent cities in Aeolis, situated near the modern town of Aliağa.  The depiction of the Amazon on the obverse and the horse on the reverse reflects both the mythological and practical aspects of Kyme’s identity. The Amazon myth could be associated with the legendary foundation of the city, while the horse symbolizes its military prowess and the importance of cavalry in warfare.
