Note: Arcadius was a Roman Emperor who ruled the Eastern Roman Empire from AD 383 to 408. He was the elder son of Theodosius I and the brother of Honorius. His reign was marked by significant internal and external challenges, including invasions by various barbarian groups and internal court intrigues. The obverse features a pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Arcadius facing right. The diadem symbolizes his imperial dignity, while the drapery and cuirass (body armor) highlight his role as both a ruler and a military leader.Ā  The reverse shows the inscription “VOT V” within a laurel wreath, a symbol of victory and honor. The wreath surrounds the vows, emphasizing their importance and the emperor’s commitment to his rule. “VOT V” translates to “Vows (prayers) for 5 years.” This inscription within a wreath signifies the emperor’s wishes for continued prosperity and stability, celebrating his reign and looking forward to future milestones.
