Note: Constantine I, also known as Constantine the Great, was a Roman Emperor who ruled from AD 306 to 337. He is notable for being the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity and for founding the city of Constantinople, which would later become the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. The obverse features a helmeted and laureate bust of Constantinopolis, the personification of the city of Constantinople, facing left. She is depicted wearing an imperial cloak and holding a reversed spear, symbolizing her martial and protective role over the city. The reverse shows Victory standing left on a prow, holding a spear and shield. This depiction symbolizes naval triumph and the protection of the empire. Victory is a common figure on Roman coins, representing success and divine favor.
