Note: Constantius II was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 337 to 361. His reign followed the death of his father, Constantine the Great, and was marked by significant military and political challenges, including internal power struggles and external threats from the Persian Empire and various barbarian groups. Constantius II’s reign was characterized by efforts to maintain the unity and security of the Roman Empire. Following the death of his father, he ruled in conjunction with his brothers, Constantine II and Constans, until conflicts arose, leading to a period of internal strife. Constantius II eventually became the sole ruler and focused on defending the empire from external threats, particularly along the eastern frontier against the Persians. The obverse, featuring his pearl-diademed head, emphasizes his authority and imperial status. The reverse, depicting soldiers with a standard and the inscription “GLORIA EXERCITVS,” conveys the importance of the military in maintaining the empire’s glory and security.
