Note: Helena, also known as Saint Helena, was the mother of Constantine the Great. She was given the title of Augusta in AD 325 and is renowned for her Christian piety and her legendary pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where she is credited with finding the True Cross. The obverse features a diademed and draped bust of Helena facing right. The diadem (a type of crown) indicates her imperial status, and her draped clothing reflects the dignity and respect accorded to her as the mother of the emperor.Ā  The reverse shows Securitas, the personification of security and stability, standing left and holding a branch. This imagery symbolizes the peace and stability brought about during Helena’s son Constantine’s reign.
