Note: Honorius was a Roman emperor who ruled from 393 to 423 AD. His reign, which began in the late 4th century and continued into the early 5th century, was marked by significant challenges, including the decline of the Western Roman Empire, internal strife, and increasing pressure from barbarian invasions. Th Nummus of Honorius serves as a prime example of late Roman coinage used for propaganda purposes. The helmeted and cuirassed bust on the obverse reinforces Honorius’ authority and martial strength. The reverse’s depiction of Constantinopolis with Victory and sceptre emphasizes the city’s importance and the emperor’s commitment to its protection and prosperity. The mint mark “ANTĪ“” highlights the provincial minting process and regional significance.
