Rev: Herakles standing facing, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, owl standing right

Note: This AR Stater from Lucania, minted in Herakleia between 281-250 BC, features the head of Athena on the obverse, wearing a Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla, symbolizing her warrior prowess. The reverse depicts Herakles standing, holding a club, bow, and arrow, with a lion’s skin draped over his arm, reflecting his legendary strength and heroic feats. The owl above the club reinforces wisdom, a common attribute associated with Athena.
