Note: Valentinian I was Roman Emperor from AD 364 to 375. His reign was characterized by efforts to strengthen and defend the empire’s borders against barbarian incursions, as well as to maintain internal stability. This coin highlights the themes of military success and divine endorsement of Valentinian I’s rule. The imagery of the emperor dragging a captive symbolizes his power and the empire’s dominance over its foes, while the Chi-Rho on the labarum reflects the Christian element of his authority.
