Note: Caracalla was a Roman emperor who ruled from 198 to 217 AD. He is known for his military campaigns and for issuing the Constitutio Antoniniana, which granted Roman citizenship to all free inhabitants of the empire. His reign was marked by both significant military achievements and notable administrative reforms. During Caracalla’s reign, Antioch in Pisidia was a significant city within the Roman Empire, and coinage from this region often highlighted local deities and symbols of civic pride.Ā  The obverse features a laureate head of Caracalla facing right. The laureate crown signifies his imperial rank and divine favor, a common motif for portraying Roman emperors on coinage. The reverse depicts Genius standing to the left, holding a branch and a cornucopia. The Genius is a personification of the spirit or guardian of the colony, representing its well-being and prosperity. The branch symbolizes peace and abundance, while the cornucopia signifies prosperity and plenty.
